A trip to Washington D. C.?  Sure you’d like to visit, but the trip?  Forget it, right?  Wrong!  No shuttle, no turnpike.  THE TRAIN!  Not just any train, Amtrak’s Acela Express , where you can use your laptop or portable DVD in large, comfortable luxury and arrive in the center of town.  Good Company, 14/WILI and Amtrak are giving away tickets for two on Acela Express, New London to Washington, leaving Friday January 30th and returning Sunday February 1st.
Our winners spend the weekend at the elegant Melrose Hotel , located in Washington’s West End, just two blocks from Georgetown on Pennsylvania Avenue, 8 blocks from The White House.  How elegant?  Five-star elegant–check it out at www.melrosehoteldc.com .
And by the way, among the attractions to enjoy in our naton’s capital, we’ll also give away a pair of tickets to the UConn-Georgetown women’s basketball game on Saturday, January 31st.  One entry per household.
In the year 2000, the National Railroad Passenger Corporation, Amtrak, created new technology with their high-speed Acela service in the Northeast.  Acela is derived from the words “excellence” and “acceleration.”  The high speed electric train is capable of speeds up to 150mph.  Amtrak plans to implement many new rail systems in its efforts to entice the American public back to rail travel as an efficient and effective mode of transportation.
CONGRATULATIONS TO CHUCK POTVIN OF WILLIMANTIC, WHO WON OUR 2007 TRIP TO WASHINGTON.  SARAH SHIMCHICK OF COLUMBIA WAS THE 2008 WINNER.
