THE 2005 Boom Box Parade lasted 87 minutes with glorious July 4 sunshine and low humidity.  An amazing display of creativity was on display again this year.    Among the highlights were five frogs on spools as part of "Frogfest."  The Traveling Fish Head Club of Northeast Connecticut had a theme promoting next year's RIVERFEST in Downtown Willimantic.

This year's parade began with a special introduction by Boston Red Sox public address announcer Carl Beane, who saluted "parade mama" Kathy Clark, and honored the men and women who have died to keep America free.

And parade Grand Marshal Wayne Norman saluted the 2004 World Champion Red Sox while "paddling" in a kayak supplied by the Willimantic Whitewater Partnership.  The paddle had a hand-painted "Stars and Stripes" design with script lettering "God Bless America."  And on the other side of the oar was a World Series Championship Red Sox pennant.  Wayne wore his authentic Red Sox jersey given to him for his 1000th UConn broadcast, and had red socks and RED HAIR!  Along the route, he passed out t-shirts and cold water to spectators.

Dan Mullins, president of the Willimantic Whitewater Partnership drives the tractor pulling Wayne's float to the parade starting point.

In front of WILI's old studios, Wayne is reaching down to get more water bottles to distribute to the thousands on Main Street.

One of the parade's highlights was five 5-foot high frogs on spools on the entry from Windham Frogfest

It was one of the best attended parades ever!

An example of some of the wacky marchers in the parade.
