Sharon's nomination letter said:
I think that Donna Charron deserves to be a "Ray of Sunshine." Donna has lived in town for many years, most of those years cheerfully giving to others. She is a respected employee of the "Willimantic Savings Institute," serving the public, always with a bright smile. She is a member and past chair of the Willimantic Downtown Council, member on the "Weed & Seed" Board and currently a co-chair of the Natchaug/Willimantic Neighborhood Revitalization Zone (NRZ) where she has served on that steering committee for more than 10 years, helping to produce the strategic plan that the NRZ is actively implementing to revitalize the community located in the NRZ area. She is also very active with the Third Thursday Street Fest, best known for her contributions to the "Windham Idol" talent show. She has also been active with "Victorian Days" and the famous "Romantic Willimantic Chocolate Fest." I am sure that I have forgotten many more events that she has been involved in. She is a great friend to all and a loyal, active community member.
