WILI's Wayne Norman took a Constitution Coach full of winners to the high-speed Block Island Express on Sunday, September 8, 2013 for a day on Block Island.  The weather was spectacular.

After the return to WILI

Many people started their day at Abrams Exotic Animal Farm:

Nyla is one of two camels at the farm

New arrivals:  Male Scottish Highland Calves

East African crowned cranes

Emu

Ring tailed lemur (from Madagascar)

Llama

Alpaca

Red and white kangaroos

New arrivals:  Black swans

An old tortoise--with an emu behind him

Justice the Yak

Cindy the Zedonk--an intentional mix of a zebra and a donkey

Wayne went to the spectacular Mohegan Bluffs--on the south side of the island

People have built dozens of cairns--stacks of rocks--at Mohegan Bluffs

Of course the only way to GET below Mohegan Bluffs is to take 142 steps down.  Its 242 steps back up.

These photos were taken by Rosemarie Bessette:

Sandy the elephant--made from Block Island driftwood collected after Superstorm Sandy in 2012

Crescent Beach -- just north of Old Harbor

The view atop Mohegan Bluffs looking down the 142 steps to the Atlantic Ocean

Looking west from the beach below Mohegan Bluffs

A bonus on the bus ride back--the crescent moon near Venus in the west.  Taken from WILI's parking lot.

Later that night
